Project progress

Next in line in Canberra's AirVolution is the second multi-storey car park. This 1,200 space car park will be the mirror image of the existing multi-storey, including four levels of parking and office space on the top floor. Builders have completed installing the 600,000 litre water tank, have poured the footings and stood around half of the structure's columns. The car park is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
Not so quietly in the background of the car park construction, a demolition team has made short work of what was once the Qantas section of the old terminal. Now completely demolished, the digging process for the Western Concourse Terminal Extension has begun and should take around another 3 months. Much like the multi-storey car park, the Western Concourse Terminal Extension is the mirror image of the now completed section of the terminal plus will include a spectacular adjoining atrium. This atrium will be a wall and roof of glass that will reach heights of 15 meters. The atrium will be the centrepiece of the terminal, creating a light-filled, open space that will welcome your passengers and guide them through to their plane. Construction on the Western Concourse Terminal Extension is due for completion at the end of 2012.
