Canberra Airport is working together with the Federal and ACT Governments to improve the roads between the Airport and Civic. These road upgrades will help meet growth demands and increase traffic flow for travellers and everyday commuters to the Airport and city centre.
This essential public infrastructure project will take place in two stages and includes the upgrade of Pialligo Avenue, Morshead Drive, Fairbairn Avenue and the extension of the Monaro Highway in the final stage.

STAGE 1A
PIALLIGO AVENUE DUPLICATION IS UNDER WAY
Preliminary work to duplicate a stretch of Pialligo Avenue, has started.
The 1.3 kilometre stretch of Pialligo Avenue between the intersections of Beltana Road and Brindabella Circuit will be duplicated. This section of the project will be completed prior to Christmas this year and when finished will help to reduce travelling time and congestion in the Majura Valley.
Two lanes will also be built for traffic entering the Airport and a grade separated interchange at the Airport's new main entry point so two lanes can also exit the Airport by passing under Pialligo Avenue and joining traffic heading to Civic.
Above: ACT Minister for Territory and Municipal Service, Mr John Hargreaves and Airport Managing Director, Mr Stephen Byron, celebrated the start of the works program with a sod turning ceremony.
