The New Terminal

Parking at Canberra Airport is much easier and convenient with more than 3,000 car parking spaces, all within a few minutes’ walk of the terminal.

Operating 24-hours daily, two multi-level covered car parks each offer 1,000 parking spaces and an additional 450 spaces each are available in the two open air car parks. Forty-six spaces are exclusively dedicated for people with disabilities, many of which are in the covered car parks.

The covered car parks have two lifts with a capacity for four baggage trolleys and passengers can access both the arrivals and departure levels of the terminal directly from the car parks.

Drivers benefit from the Parking Guidance System (PGS) on the approach roads which provide exact number of parking spaces available in each of the four car parks. As the drivers approach the ‘Blue’ or ‘Green’ multi-level covered car parks, signs at the entrance will provide exact number of parking spaces available on each level. Vacant parking bays on each level will be easily identified by LED red/green lights.

Forgetting where your car is parked will be a thing of the past. All car parks are available for both short and long stay users and will be identified by bold colours – red, green, yellow or blue with drivers receiving correspondingly coloured parking tickets. Payment can be made by cash or credit card at any one of 22 pay machines around the car parks.

Safety and security is paramount in the airport car parks, with designs allowing for one-way traffic flow, clear and visible directional signage and large pedestrian crossings. Car parks close 30 minutes after the last flight arrival and re-open each morning at 5.00am. Covered car parks also have a closed circuit television (CCTV) system.
