With stage one and two now complete, and the bulk of the large-scale construction works of Canberra Airport’s AirVolution coming to an end, focus moves to the third and final stage of development and the delivery of some exciting benefits to our passengers, these include:
Indoor taxi rank
Passengers to Canberra Airport will be able to relax and queue for their taxi in the comfort of an indoor waiting area, including heating in winter and cooling in summer. To add to passenger comfort, the indoor taxi will include comfortable leather seating and flat screen televisions.
More retail and food and beverage outlets
There is additional space available in the terminal for more food and beverage outlets and more places to shop for passengers. These will continue to open as demand requires.
A dedicated business area is in the final stages of design and will feature private desks, a variety of seating and mobile device charge stations.
Kids play area
A fun and interactive play area is currently being developed to entertain and engage our younger passengers whilst waiting for their flight.
Sculptures and landscape
To add to the already generous landscape areas is another beautifully designed courtyard. This will sit directly opposite the existing courtyard between the terminal building and multi-storey car park and will feature a high-tech water feature and sculpture by New Zealand artist Virginia King.
Aerobridges and aircraft parking apron
Aircraft parking apron will take the place of the site where the old terminal was located and will provide room for two additional boarding gates and aerobridges.
