Canberra International Music Festival

Canberra’s gateway to the world becomes a cathedral of sound with Taking Flight, a free concert as part of the Canberra International Music Festival.

The Canberra International Music Festival is a key event on the national calendar which connects the Australian music scene to the rest of the world.

Highly-sought after musicians have been engaged to join the Festival from all over the world – Europe, Asia and the Americas – making Canberra for ten days a hub of international music activity.

Several of the festival’s most prestigious international guests will be highlighted in Taking Flight, a unique musical showcase, held in the Atrium of the Canberra Airport. The free concert will include performances from the China Orient Orchestra, Singapore’s Ding Yi Music Company, Venezuela’s Simón Bolívar String Quartet, New Zealand bassoonist Ben Hoadley, and Australia’s intrepid Ensemble Offspring.

To view the concert simply go through security on level two. There is some seating available and you can purchase refreshments from the nearby cafes.

Covered parking is available close to the terminal. Click here for more information on parking and transport options at Canberra Airport.
