Canberra Airport congratulates Bates Smart for their National and State architecture awards, announced yesterday.

Capital Airport Group’s Managing Director, Stephen Byron, said the awards reflected the Group’s consistent commitment to excellence in design.

“Bates Smart won the national Emil Sodersten Award for Interior Architecture. Anyone visiting the Vibe Hotel at the Airport will understand why – the interior is open, full of light and breathtaking”, Mr Byron said.

“This project was among more than 890 entries vying for an award this year. The project is now shortlisted for the World Architecture Awards being held in Berlin on 16 November 2016”.

“The hotel also took away the ACT Commercial Architecture Award and the Light in Architecture Award at the ACT awards in June”.

“We’re proud to be associated with an outstanding company, and an outstanding building”.
