100 flights mark an International milestone for Canberra
A new milestone for Canberra will be reached on Thursday, with the departure of the 100th international Singapore Airlines flight to Singapore.
Canberra Airport’s Managing Director, Stephen Byron, said the successful launch of the Singapore-Canberra-Wellington flights on September the 21st had positioned Canberra on the international travel map.
“We’ve been delighted by the enthusiasm of Canberra, Wellington and Singapore passengers for this new route. Singapore’s numerous attractions, the world class hub of Changi Airport and its proximity to Asia, is proving popular with business and holiday visitors”.
Singapore Airlines Manager ACT, Mr Tan Chin Yu, said the first 100 flights had reinforced there was an appetite for inbound and outbound travel in Canberra.
“We’ve seen good consistent growth on both the trans-Tasman and Singapore bound flights since we launched,” Mr Tan said.
“Inbound numbers are also growing, which is pleasing.
“While the early signs are positive, we remain focused on ensuring this growth increases over the coming holiday months and remains consistent into 2017.
“We’d like to thank those who have travelled or plan to travel with us either to Wellington, Singapore or beyond. Your support is greatly appreciated.”
