Canberra Nara Candle Festival
Japan’s Nara delegation was welcomed at the Canberra Airport by Mr Brendan Smyth, Commissioner for International Engagement and Kaleen Primary School’s children’s choir ahead of the Canberra Nara Candle Festival on Saturday 27 October.
3,000 candles will shimmer as the sun sets at the Canberra Nara Candle Festival as Canberra celebrates our 25 years of sister-city relationship with Nara, Japan.
The festival brings together Japanese and Australian cultures in a rich programme of activities. Highlights include magical melodies from the didgeridoo and drumming performances, Japanese inspired performers including martial arts and sumo wrestlers, lantern making and ikebana workshops, delicious gyoza and green tea ice-cream plus so much more.
