Last year Lonely Planet awarded Canberra as the third top city to visit in the world. This year, Canberra Region is once again in the spot-light making Lonely Planet’s Wine Trails: Australia and New Zealand.
The region was picked for boasting world-class wines, Instagram-worthy vineyards and cellar-doors that are a foodie’s-haven full of delicious delights and liquid tastings to tantalise even the most discerning taste buds.
Home to over 140 vineyards and more than 30 cellar doors within a 35 mins drive of Canberra, it’s easy to understand Lonely Planet’s love with the region’s wines.
The Lonely Planet publication, Wine Trails: Australia and New Zealand, is designed as a companion to 40 weekends of wine tasting across the two countries.
Highlighted in the publication is Clonakilla’s ground-breaking Shiraz and signature Viognier, Helm Wine’s Rieslings and Mt Majura’s exuberance and willingness to move into the Spanish Tempranillo varietal.
Wine Trails: Australia and New Zealand also includes where to stay and eat, and a ‘what to do’ section enhancing the Canberra region’s growing reputation as a destination to explore and firmly placing the region on the international spotlight.
