Canberra's Vinnies CEO sleepout

04 April 2019

The 10th annual Vinnies CEO sleepout was launched in Canberra today, asking Canberran CEOs to rise to the challenge and sleep rough to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Canberrans in need.

Every night in Canberra, individuals, children and families experience homelessness. In Canberra the number of rough sleepers has doubled since 2011, 30% of people seeking homeless services are children and the number of older women seeking help has gone up 18%.

This year, the Canberra Vinnies CEO sleepout is hoping to raise over $700,000 to support Canberrans who can’t afford the basics – food, education, utilities and even a place to call home.

Stephen Byron, Managing Director of Capital Airport Group and 61 other CEOs have signed up for the challenge to sleep rough on 20 June 2019 at Canberra Airport. Each of these CEOs are seeking donations to help break the devastating cycle of homelessness and help the local community.

Every donated dollar will support the Canberra local community and will create positive improvement in people’s lives.

As little as $55 can help feed a family for a day;
$120 will help a family keep the power on this winter;
$300 will help relocate a person sleeping rough to accommodation services; and
$500 will help provide emergency accommodation for a family in crisis

If you can, please visit Vinnies CEO sleepout to sponsor Stephen Byron, other CEOs or to register a new CEO.
