Christmas at Canberra Airport
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Canberra Airport.
Our giant Christmas tree is up, our plane snowflakes are twinkling in the terminal window and there’s a rumor that a big guy in a red suit will be giving out free gingerbread soon.

Christmas tree
Our giant Christmas tree takes a full day to piece together and requires a scissor lift to decorate. It’s located right in the middle of the central atrium, just beyond security.
Behind the tree you’ll notice our popular snowflake window decals but look closely, they’re not what they seem at first.
Carols
O-Christmas Trio are back, spreading the Christmas spirit throughout the Airport. The talented local group will be in the terminal on several evenings in the lead up to Christmas, performing a cappella carols under the giant Christmas tree, or roving the departure gates.
On Fridays keep an eye out for our surprise barbershop quartets. Local barbershop quartets the Chorduroys and Fresh Notes will be popping up to surprise waiting travelers with Christmas carols and other a cappella favourites.
Santa Claus
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Santa. He’ll be in the Airport on Friday 8 and Friday 15 December. Along with his trusty elf, Santa will be giving out free Gingerbread people to the young and the young at heart celebrating the start of the summer holidays.
