dnata catering's new facility opens at Canberra Airport
dnata catering’s new facility at Canberra Airport set to bring growth to the region
dnata catering, Australia’s leading in-flight caterer, opened a new state-of-the-art facility at Canberra Airport on 17 January 2019.
The new facility represents millions of dollars of investment by both dnata catering and Canberra Airport and will allow dnata catering to meet increasing demand for both in-flight and non-airline ventures including retail and large-scale food supply opportunities.
“dnata catering is one of the world’s largest air services providers. This new Canberra Airport facility isn’t just the largest and most state-of-the-art catering facility we have partnered to build, it’s an investment in the airport and the entire Canberra region,” says Stephen Byron, Managing Director of Capital Airport Group.
dnata catering prepares more than 60,000 inflight meals each month in Canberra and accommodates a wide range of commercial customers including Qantas, Qantas Link, and Virgin Australia, along with charter airlines carrying VIPs, government officials and military.
“The new, two-storey facility gives dnata catering 30% more space to continue their excellent service to airlines and charter flights here at the airport, and it allows them to expand into non-airline catering markets across our area,” says Mr Byron.
Hiranjan Aloysius, CEO of dnata catering, said: “Following the successful completion of our acquisition of Qantas’ catering business, we are thrilled to celebrate another significant milestone in Australia. This facility enhances our ability to delight our customers and their customers, accelerates our growth and expands our market offering. It also supports our growth in non-airline markets – from retail supply to large scale food supply opportunities.”
