New retail landing soon

Construction on the first stage of new retail speciality stores for Canberra Airport is on track with four retail, food and beverage destinations to open in the first week of December 2019.

During the entire project, more than 1,000 sqm of new retail will be added with a focus on local food and locally-made gifts that showcase Canberra and the surrounding regions.

Travellers looking for great coffee will be able to visit the new café, City Hill Coffee, serving Canberra’s favourite ONA coffee near the main atrium’s Unfurling sculpture. While hungry noodle-loving travellers can visit Noodles XO  for freshly-made dishes created in just minutes, perhaps with a side of sushi. Baker’s Cut will serve healthy grab and go meals rounding off this first stage of new food destinations.

Travellers waiting for their flights can also browse new store News@CBR, a mixed news, books, travel essentials and cafe space brought to life, designed to create a true sense of place with a focus on local products that will belong to all Canberra Airport customers.

What’s next for 2020?

The answer is simple, a continued focus on local when stage two opens by Easter 2020.

Highlights include Capital Brewing Co. Tap Room, featuring 12 taps of the well-known, much-loved locally brewed beers combined with quality, locally-sourced meals.

“Visitors to the Airport will be treated to a wide range of our core, seasonal, and specialty brews made with our pristine Canberra water just 1km away in Dairy Rd.,” says Capital Brewing Co’s Managing Director Laurence Kain.

Merchant Canberra, will offer travellers iconic gifts from Canberra, its surrounding region, and around Australia.

Additionally, those picking up passengers will not be left out, Go Convenience, a mixed news, books, travel essentials and café space will open the ground floor in the arrivals baggage hall.

“We have worked for years, focusing on making the travel experience for Canberrans and our visitors as seamless and efficient as possible, “says Richard Snow, Head of Property at Canberra Airport. “Now we are proud to be able to add in more restaurants and café options as well as retail that helps visitors remember their trip with local produce and gifts. We are excited about these new partnerships as we work through the last piece in our terminal puzzle.”

With this major development, it’s another step in our plan to create the best little airport in the world.
