South Australian Border opens to ACT

15 September 2020

The South Australian Government has revoked its border closure to the ACT, meaning if you are a non-essential traveller and arrive in South Australia after travelling by air from WA, NT, QLD, ACT or Tasmania, and have not left the airport terminal whilst in transit, you are not required to self-quarantine or submit to a COVID-19 test.

Anyone travelling from NSW, who works or lives across the border in nearby jurisdictions like Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra or Yass, will have to wait for quarantine-free travel. Alternatively, travellers can reside in ACT for 14 days prior to their travel, to avoid a 14-day quarantine in South Australia.

All travellers will be required to register their intent to travel with the South Australia Police Department and must complete a Cross Border Travel Registration form.

All persons transiting via Melbourne Airport from Adelaide to the ACT will be required to apply for an exemption with the ACT Health at least 72 hours before their intended travel date to avoid a mandatory 14 day isolation period. ACT Health will assess your exemption application on a case by case basis to determine if you are exempt from the mandatory 14 day isolation. Prior to your journey, we suggest that you contact the COVID-19 Hotline on 02 6207 7244 between 8am and 8pm daily.

Flights are available with Qantas Airlines, flying 3 times a week on Monday, Thursday and Friday. To book your flights, click here.
