Virgin Australia to resume minimal domestic schedule
Virgin Australia will tomorrow (18 April 20) recommence operations on several domestic routes including three weekly services between Melbourne and Canberra after responding to a request from the Australian Government to resume flying on an “underwritten, minimal” schedule.
Services between Melbourne and Canberra will operate Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week.
For eight weeks, up until 07 June 2020, VA will transport passengers and keep important freight corridors open during the COVID-19 pandemic, with flights to progressively go on sale via the airline’s website.
“As a major Australian airline, we are proud to support the Federal Government in returning passengers home and enabling essential travellers to continue flying during this time,” the airline said.
The schedule will enable Virgin Australia to reinstate some of its stood down flight, cabin and ground crew, along with other operational team members. VA’s repatriation flights between Australia and Hong Kong, and Australia and Los Angeles will also continue for a limited time.
Passengers will earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits and points when they fly, and VA along with the Federal Government, will review the schedule on or before 07 June 2020.For more information, visit:
