We are wild about our worm farm
A few months ago, we installed our first-ever worm farm to help with the efficient composting of organic materials from our offices, the terminals and a few of our Brindabella Business Park neighbours.
We are proud to report that the organic waste in our worm farm is quickly being converted into worm castings and rich, nutrient-dense liquid fertiliser that is used in on-site landscaping. Our worm farm can handle up to 150 kilograms of food waste per week as earthworms can consume more than half their body weight each day. In just two weeks, worms reduce the volume and weight of foodstuff by more than 90 per cent!
Eventually, we are hoping to expand to handle all waste produced by participating airport precinct businesses and further enhance the landscaping across our airport precinct.
