Aerial display

    Canberra Airport Open Day brings the excitement of aviation to life with an impressive line‑up of historic and modern aircraft, thrilling aerial displays and hands‑on experiences for all ages. From warbirds and commercial aircraft to helicopters and emergency services displays, visitors can get up close to incredible machines and meet the people behind them. 

    Morning session 10 am - 12 pm

    Paul Bennet Airshow - Wolf Pitts Pro & TBM Grumman Avenger

    Mid-Day feature - 12 pm - 1 pm 

    RAAF Roulettes 

    Afternoon session 1 pm - 3 pm

    Live Music

    Enjoy live music throughout the day, including performances from the RMC Band, creating a vibrant soundtrack to the aviation action. The Amplify broadcast will bring event updates and on‑the‑ground moments to life, helping visitors make the most of their Airport Open Day experience. 

    Activities

    AIRCBR Joy rides

    Book a joy ride with AIRCBR for a birds' eye view of Canberra’s distinctive wheel-and-spoke road and street layout. Tickets sold on the day, 4-5 passengers per ride.

    Learn2Fly - Flights

    Book a flight with Learn2Fly for a scenic flight taking in the Airport, Lake Burley Griffin, Black Mountain and all the sights inbetween. Tickets sold on the day, 4-5 passengers per ride.

    Learn2fly - Flight simulator

    Simulator on site: $25

    An exhilarating simulator experience with Learn2fly, located within the main event zone. This one is for the kids and those not yet ready to brave a trial flight.  Our team will get you into our CTLS simulator where you can try flight in the safety and comfort of our display tent.

    Simulator off site: $50

    Try flight without leaving the ground.  Our CASA approved flight simulator is used in our flight training for a variety of tasks including advanced training and scenario based decision making.  On open day though its there for fun!!  2-4 point cook, please call 0450645400 to book.

    Meet the Pilots

    Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet pilots from some of the aircraft on display, offering a unique chance to hear first‑hand stories and learn more about life in the cockpit.

    Meet the Mascots

    Families can also enjoy meeting mascots from local Canberra businesses and charities, adding fun, colour and photo‑worthy moments throughout the day. It’s a great chance for kids to engage with familiar community faces alongside the aviation action.

      Important information

      How do I get to the event?

      To reduce traffic congestion, we are offering a free park-and-ride shuttle bus service. We encourage all attendees to make use of this rather than driving directly to the event. The Shuttle Bus will leave from the city interchange and the car parks at Russell, departing every 5 mins. 

      Please note there is no storage for bikes or e-scooters at the event. 

      Can I catch public transport to the event?

      Ticketholders to the Canberra Airport Open Day get FREE travel on all Transport Canberra bus and light rail services. Simply present your ticket to the bus driver or CMET Customer Service Officer when requested. The Transport Canberra Rapid Route 3 stops at the terminal, a short walk from the event site.

      Where do I park?

      Parking is available at Majura Park Shopping Centre. You can enter the event via the Catalina Drive entry. Accessible parking is available beside George Tyson Drive. These car parks allow you to park close to the airfield and offer access to the event zone via hard surfaces. 

      Registrations are full for the event, what do I do?

      There is a waitlist for the event. If a ticket becomes available, you will be notified. 

      Can I get a ticket at the event gate?

      Please register online before the event. You will be required to show your ticket at entry. If you do not have a ticket, you will not be allowed entry. 

      When do I have to arrive?

      There are two sessions in the day, morning (9am-12pm) and afternoon (12pm-3pm). Please arrive for your ticketed time.

      What can I bring in?

      The event will be located within the airfield so do not bring anything you can’t take on a flight. This includes nail scissors, nail files, pocket knives and prohibited weapons. Random bag checks may occur in all locations. 
      Dogs are not permitted with the exception of service dogs like guide dogs.
